The YM are intending to hold the regular event at Signet in 5 weekend's time, relating to Module 2 & Module 3 exams.

There have been variations in attendance levels and the format of the event over the past years and we are looking to focus it on what is really the most useful for participants.

It would be helpful if anyone who is likely to attend could advise their interests in particular topics within the scope of these papers and /or specific past questions (individual "written questions" from past papers, the control tables for routes / points from a certain layout, a specific year's mod 2 layout with which they have struggled) for which they would want assistance.
Bother! I had not picked up this date before reading this post. I would like to be able to come to the weekend but am only free on Saturday.
From a personal (and selfish) point of view I am interested in Module 3 and expecting to do the Control Tables and Aspect Sequence questions. I'd like some advice on how to pick a third question.

I'll be nearly 8 months pregnant by the date of the exam and have little energy to put into preparation at the moment (that's not likely to improve!) so I'm looking for Exam Technique and advice on picking topics likely to come up in order to make that preparation count.

[Naturally if I fail I'll blame it on baby-brain!]
I regret that it has yet to be formally advertised and by only giving late notice then people do get diaries do get allocated to other things; there is a lesson to learn here.

Thanks for the prompt feedback though- just the sort of stuff I was after.

The YM are now working on the flyer and aiming to send out early next week, but I think the consensus is that we are going to concentrate on the 2012 exam papers as a basis. Definitely question selection and indeed techniques for presenting information is an important element; certainly can ensure that we do that on the Saturday as it makes sense to do early on.

Not so sure what we can do re making your system more tolerant to the affects of baby though!

If you can let the YM know that my weekends are generally booked up at 3-4 months in advance, that might give them a timescale to think about in future. If it's only the date, venue and a vague subject at that point, that's enough to hold the place. Just over a month's notice, espcially just a week before term ends for the summer, is a tad daft.
I have to agree with you- I think that poor attendance at some recent events may well have been due to late advertising.

However in their defence the YM committee, like the rest of us, do have busy day jobs, personal lives to lead etc. and there are other constraints to consider which may not be known too far in advance (e.g. the availability of both Reuben and myself this year has been subject to separate doses "the Indian factor" which does inject a further level of uncertainty).
Definitely though I believe that there could and should have been earlier visibility of events. The YM AGM is held in January and they are always after volunteers to serve on the committee and undertake organization tasks for events, so there is a potential solution.....
