Hello all,

In case you have not checked your emails today...................

I received my 2017 exam results via email this afternoon (sent by Judith Ward). That's all four modules completed now. I hope everyone gets the results they were hoping for (...an early Christmas present?!)

Cheers,
Ross

If you know your candidate number you can also get your results from the website; Judith Ward sent the following email to various Study Group leaders.  I don't know any of my candidate's numbers, so I only know what people have told me; it is about a 50:50 split so far between good and bad news.  The difference between Pass and Near Miss is on the one hand not an awful lot in terms of marks, but a very significant difference in whether people are on a High or a Low coming up to Christmas.

I haven't done the maths yet, but it doesn't overall seem to have been a great year, but at a glance it seems that the module 1 performance was better than it has been for a long time, module 3 up from what it has been, but module 5 rather down from its norm.

Well done to the IRSE for being able to get the results out suitably promptly this time around; I know that this has been a significant challenge and I am glad that they rose to it.

So if it is good news celebrate; if it is bad news then try to focus on something else for a while and come to terms with it before thinking further.  If you didn't pass, then consider whether it is best to have another go at the same one again next year, whether to lie fallow for a year or whether to consider a different module for next time.  There is no right answer for everyone in that situation; it might partly depend upon:
a) why you think you failed,
b) what any Study Group you can join next year will be doing.

So once the pain is not so raw, sit back, consider and think of your options, ready for a conversation with your sponsor next year.  They ought to be able to give some personal advice appropriate to your situation.

Don't forget that if you got a Near Miss you can request some feedback from the IRSE.  To be honest it won't tell you a lot, but will give you an understanding if all your answers were marginal or there was one particularly weak one that pulled you down.  You may already know this; if so little value in asking, but if you really have no idea then do request this information as can be useful for determining your future plans.
