Have some 30 years of mainline experience in a variety of roles, most recently as Project Engineer / CRE for Reading Project. Historically best known as signalling Principles tester- in reality that was half a career ago!.
Experience includes working with ISA / NoBo re introduction of novel technology to the UK and development of Cambrian ERTMS project.
A couple of years getting Metro experience; working in SSR ATC Signalling with pure moving block CBTC in the core, but as an overlay on lineside signaling where mainline trains also run. Now back into the mainline world and have been focusing on competence, compliance and investigations into incidents etc. but due a change.
In my spare time I wrote the IRSE module 2 Study Pack for 2008. Hence feel well qualified to help on the mainstream signalling modules 2,3 & 5 in UK Mainline context in particular; relatively comfortable on most of the range of modules 1 & 7 at IRSE exam level, though would struggle with Telecomms (don't all signal engineers...) |
