Help needed
#1
CI have worked in Signalling for 5 years as a tester and intend to sit the module 5 exam in 2019.
I have already “attempted” about a dozen or so past questions but the problem I have is so far I have been unable to find anyone to mark or advise about my attempts on a consistent basis.  I have explored a few avenues but so far no luck. Obviously there is this site and I am grateful for the members contributions but really I need a bit more especially as my background was not Signalling or mainline.
I would be very grateful if someone would be willing to mentor/advise me or even point me in the direction of someone who would.

Many thanks

I hope someone comes forward to assist.  I am afraid that in 2018 I had so much to do outside paid employment (Swindon panel, writing my Chronology of UK Signalling book, running a Study Group for modules 1 & 7) that it consumed my life and in what little other time I had available I wanted to do something else than signalling!  Hence didn’t give this website the attention I would otherwise; Peter is now in Australia and I guess he is similarly distracted.

Perhaps things may get easier for me in 2019, but ideally this website would be far more active with students posting attempts but we also need a wider band of people who can respond.  We have not decided which module(s) the Chippenham group will be doing in 2019; if it includes mod 5 then potentially you could be a remote member of that.   Also worth finding out what the SNC-L group based in central London will be doing; even if you can’t attend then it is easier to deal with an extra attempt at the same questions and indeed there is much to be gained from seeing other people’s attempts at the same question.

The mod 5 Study Pack has become outdated that also doesn’t help;  it was supposed to be being revised a couple of years ago but don’t know where that has got.  No doubt some well-intentioned person has taken it on, but is similarly struggling to find the necessary time.  Obviously the IRSE is very heavily dependent on it members to volunteer to undertake tasks and I am afraid that it is only quite a small minority that do much and generally these people are doing all they reasonably can.  Problem is how to encourage others to get involved to permit the sharing of load. I think in your situation I’d first be looking at your employer and perhaps also approaching the London & South East section to see if they could come up with any suggestions.

Yes I've tried both approaches but bears no fruit. Incredibly frustrating at times.

Noting that I have been chiding myself for being a little absent as far as looking over things goes, while also pleading that the nature of this forum is that people put things on when they have done them not necessarily when it is great for a person to review them (this is not a criticism of them, just reality), how about we put some discipline in this.

If you (Steak) post a mod 5 attempt on the first of each month, I will give you a reply to it with the week (hoping it is something I am qualified to talk about.

Peter incredibly kind of you, thank you. I shall probably re-attempt some of my earlier efforts to begin with to see if my thought process and knowledge has improved any.

Again thank you.

Peter, I’m putting a pause on my studies for now due to work commitments taking over.
