2015 Q10 Operational need for train to enter occupied platform
#1
Forum has been very quiet this year, but actually I have had a lot of attempts from a range of individuals, particularly recently; everyone seems very shy in sharing their work......

However I have permission to put some attempts on which I have commented on the Forum, so here is one of them attached with some comments written on and others below.

2015 Q10:

Another very good answer; it may only be two sides but I think you covered nearly everything and presented very clearly.

Biggest defect was that on section d) you went into too much detail on just one thing.
  • I think this is a “very Indian thing” to do.  You want to demonstrate your detailed understanding- that is great, but not if it is at the detriment of wider consideration.
  • In IRSE Exam it is easy to “max out” and get all the marks that examiner is happy to award for one idea and so giving more than that is wasted time and effort.  Be aware of this fault mode and if you find yourself getting very detailed when answering, “hit the pause button” and just re-read that portion of the question again and see if you can think of something different to add as well into that section- if you can then almost certainly you’ll increase your overall marks by including that.
  • By all means leave some space before adding that, so if you finish the whole question with time to spare then you can easily go back to add detail (however the chances are you won’t have that time, but relax in the knowledge that  going WIDER is almost definitely more profitable than going DEEPER.
This is actually quite similar question to one we did at Signet and for which I have put a “model answer” at:
https://irseexam.co.uk/thread-2197.html
Therefore do also look at that thread since I haven’t bothered to make such additions to yours (since you can look at the one I did earlier in good "Blue Peter" fashion).
