We still havent got our results at this corner of the globe...has someone recieved the Jan issue of IRSE NEWS yet?

I have received the January Issue of IRSE but the Exam Results are not in there

It tends to be the March or April edition that include the result- it would scarcely be fair to publish the results before every individual has been advised their own results in advance of this!

I understand that results had got as far as Singapore in early January, so surely they must have reached Australia by now.... (on the assumption that they are not being carried by ship!)

I do find it very strange that they aren't sent out by email nowadays.

I was in the IRSE office on Wednesday and I commented to Christine White that, based on comments here, I thought they would have a lot more fans if the results could be sent out by e-mail. The response was that this would be quite a lot simpler for the staff in the office too so I think that it is something that is likely to be taken on board.

Peter,

I'd forward a formal request, with the forum posts, to the chair of the Professional Development Committee to which the Exam Committee answers.

Very glad to hear it; I hope that your Brisbane colleagues also fared well.
In your case I am not at all surprised:
a) I know that you have a good few years of diverse experience under your belt and this certainly counts for a lot, particularly in module 1,
b) you evidently studied, worked within a group, practiced past papers and submitted some of these efforts for external review.

Whereas these are certainly no absolute guarantee of success (a lot of people can perhaps do a paper off-line but not be able to do enough against the pressure of time / stress of the exam conditions), it certainly improves the chances of success considerably.

However if you feel you have any particular tips that you feel that you can share with those who were less successful, then I am sure they will be welcomed by those needing to re-visit or indeed attempt for the first time in 2011.

Don't forget to update you "bio" entry listing exam intentions; I guess that it is mod 2 and mod 3, but will that be to UK or Australina practice?

I have also received Issue Jan, but no result yet.(in mainland China)
I wrote to IRSE and requested feedback by email. And result arrived by email last Friday: Mod2 distinction, Mod 3 pass, Mod5 fail. A little happy.
Half year learning in this forum helped me improve quickly.Still remember raising lots of foolish questions at first...Thanks for those people who helped me in this forum. I will book 1&7 this year, and keep active here, learning and sharing.

Judging my the reaction last Thursday at the exam review, I am hopeul that in 2011 that receiving results by email will either be the norm or at least an option, so 2010 may have been the last year of the long wait into the Christmas period and beyond.

I think that there was only 1 Distinction awarded in mod2, so you should feel even more happy.

Mod 5 was in general found by most candidates to be one of the easier papers in the exam. I would hazard a guess that you had concentrated your preparation on mod2 & mod3 and took mod5 as a bit of an extra; if this is the top of your priority in 2011 hopefully you would get a much better result next time. Given that you want to do mod1 then I can see the sense though of making mod7 your other paper.

Mod 1 can be found to be extremely difficult and three quaters of those who sat it failed, which may be a new all time low re performance in this paper. Having said that, I know that some relative novices passed it first time around; as ever adequate preparation is key.

Sorry for type error...I plan to sit for Mod1&5, not 7.
The reason for failing in Mod 5 is that time is not adquate. Because I got the result of TC calcultion and found it unbelievable. So I put too much time on checking calculation progress and did not have enough time for long questions.
Truely, in Jun, I thought I could not pass Mod 2 as I did not know how to do the layout. But to my surprise, I get distinction as last. Maybe I put too much concentration on it.
Mod 1 is a big chanllege for me.It needs adquate preparation, and more work experience I think.
