Greetings all!

My name is Bogdan and I'm a newbie in this industry.
Two years ago I started to work on the London Underground infrastructure (for a LUL contractor) and since then I'm increasingly in-loved with the trains and tracks and I really like to build up a career in railway signalling, because I found this field most accessible and appropriate to my training and previews experience.
I have a BEng (Hons) in Business Information Systems and three years experience working with industrial automation and my goal is to do Signalling Design.
So, I ended up on the forum hopefully someone will share and advise me where and what training to follow to rich my dream.
But from all the information I found till now I realize that to become a Signalling Designer is quite a long time journey so that's why I would like to follow this path; Become first an Assistant Signalling Installer to can start quick into industry and get some experience and mean time to study for Signalling Designer.
1: Where and what course to follow for Assistant Signalling Installer.
I'm living in London and I'll finance myself the training. I found some training centers buy I would like a recommendation from someone who's been through this, not to end up by paying some unnecessary courses or which I could be jumped and study straight Signalling Installing.
2: What is your recommendation for me to study to rich my Signalling Designer career dream.
Unfortunately I'm not in my twenties to be accepted into an apprenticeship scheme.

Thank you for reading my thread!

The industry is recruiting for people in mid-career.

In particular the company I work for is currently intending to fill 12 positions for a training course (due to start Jan 2014) to become a site tester. We are looking at various sources including those who have served in the armed forces, but not exclusively from that source. You'd have more railway understanding than most; hence don't assume that you would need to finance your training or that you have to a school leaver.

We do not allow people to post advertising messages / lis inks to websites for business purposes on this website and I am not going to abuse this policy myself, but send me an email / Personal Message if this might potentially interest you.

I believe that the other 2 of the "big 3" of NR's signalling suppliers are also planning something similar.

I am pretty sure that both those companies would be and I have in the past had periods of employment with both of them, but neither is my current employer.

I have been awarded a (Hon) Fellow of the Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors (IDEA) and served 6 years on the committee last 2 years as Vice Chair so I am used to forums. I am sure the industry has changed a bit since you were there. Welcome and hope that you find it useful and can share some of the experiences of your other industries when you are approaching IRSE questions.
