Yes. I'll leave it until the New Year and see what other interest there is and try to set a timetable between February and September. It will be a bit of a challenge given the likely demands of my day job in 2010, but let's give it a go.

If not, is anyone else out there interested in trying the same papers at the same time, and comparing/discussing answers? I've made a start on the 2008 paper, Q1.

I do intend to do the assignment based on the 2004 exam layout found at the back of Appendix G.23 in the Module 2 Study Pack over the weekend and therefore can post it by Monday 15th March (the Ides of March!).

My plan is to do the Layout Calculations for a few years first to get a hang on what I consider to be the most important part of exam. Anyone out there with other views?

I think that is an excellent suggestion; it is a good place to start. What I'll do is set up a subforum as per the module 3 one; i.e. people (no restriction / password needed) can post into it but the attachments will not immediately come visible. Let's set the deadline to be 20th March to give everyone who is interested a fair chance to do it; at that date I'll make the attachments visible to all and we can discuss.

See Alex's post in this thread; his suggestion of the exercise as a starting place is a good one. Braking and headway calcs are fundamental and the subject is covered in detail in the Study Pack so makes sense to work from that. If anyone has yet to get hold of one but is interested in doing the work,get in touch and I can send the relevant extract.

So suggest you park the 2008 layout for now, but we can then make this the next thing that we consider.

I am a student preparing for the coming Oct exam. And my mother tough is not English, so it may be usually some small grammar errors in my word, sorry.

I plan to take Module 2,3&5 this year, and Module 1 in next year. I am looking forward to join the study group for I am not in England, and I hope to communicate with you all on internet. Thank you.

BTW, I having been visiting this forum for a long time, maybe 3 months. I found some calculations uploaded by our exam takers were written in illegible, difficult for us non-English speaker reading. So may I suggest those sharing doc. can be written in readable format? Thanks a lot

No problem with your language and the examiners are used to it so written wording and grammar will not be problem. The difficulty foreign students often have is understanding the question, but the examiners do now try to make as clear as possible, and is the reason for longer reading time in some exam centres.

I can see that any handwriting must make it harder, particularly if not neat. I am afraid that many of us use computers for most things nowadays. However in the exam it will be handwriting so I do not want to discourage those who wish to submit in that form; however it is a timely reminder that examiners also have difficulty particularly when writing has to be hurried, so it is beneficial for all if wrting is legible.

I am probably one of those guilty, but doing annotations in hand on a pdf is often the only way practicable to me to comment I am afraid. I'll do what I can, but particularly difficult when not much space left. Like everyone I only have so much time in my life and if faced with a choice of giving some feedback which might not be very easily legible or not doing so at all, then I am going to do the former.

Currently people are having a look at the 2009 Module 3 paper; I suggest you next make an attempt at that by 10th May if you can- Control tables and / or your choice of written questions from Part B.
