Hi,

Looking at question 2, there's some good stuff in there but I would advise the following:

* The question asks you to describe the safety characteristics, you've listed them. You could think about splitting the page into two, to include a list of the characteristics and a brief description of why they should be considered. For example regarding EMC emissions you could expand on which systems may be affected and what impact that could have on safety.
* The new design of train could consider signal sighting requirements
* The layout could consider the gauging requirements of services, principles constraints (including non-compliances with recognised codes of practice and any novelty), driveability, flanking protection, level crossing restrictions, fixed assets and infrastructure (such as bridges and tunnels which may require specific layout arrangements) revised line speeds. You've mentioned sighting distances here which is good, but you could also expand on this point to cover more signal sighting safety characteristics (such as distraction from parallel signals, read through, MRT and banner requirements, etc).
* The recontrol of an area you might think about the technology being implemented and the safety characteristics this imparts (SIL levels), level crossing recontrols (such as MCB-OD, CCTV transfer to a busy control centre or signal box), human factors, telecommunications arrangements, panel size and control area limitations.
* The answer is quite brief for a question response, in half an hour I think 2-3 pages would be more appropriate.

Hope that helps
