IRSE member (class)?: Fellow [FIRSE]
Job Role: Scheme Specifier
Location: Sydney, Australia
Railway Administration: UK Mainline (Network Rail)
Bio: Consultant with Network Rail Consulting based in Sydney.
I have been around in signalling since 1994 (when I joined BR graduate scheme).
Eventually got round to taking the exam myself (Mod 1 & 2 in 2006 and 3 & 5 in 2007). I was helping to facilitate a study group in Bristol and thought if I was doing that, why not do the exam as well?
Mainly project experience but had three years on maintenance and the spent some time on the asset owner side of things. Until recently I was the Network Rail Route Asset Manager for Signalling on Western Route.
My experience up to 2017 had been in UK mainline practice.
Personally I prefer the non wordy questions (calculations and tables) but that is probably because I find it hard to put into words what I want to get across.
